India’s First Electric Sportsbike ‘Emflux One’ To Go On Sale in 2019

Posted On : 23-02-2018

Emflux One is unleashing the power of electricity-powered motorcycles, not just as an insubstantial myth on the road, but a practical response to various criticisms that electric bikes are merely too heavy, too slow, too expensive and too short on range to be a realistic alternative for most riders.

There has been a legion of electric bikes out in the market for quite some time such as the KTM Freeride E or the Zero, but they have not lived up to what they have promised.

However, the Emflux One might just be what it takes to change things around. Powered from a water-cooled AC induction motor, the motorcycle offers 50kW peak power that is enough for everyday riding. Its high quality Samsung li-ion batteries have SDi cells that boast a range of 200km without needing to compromise acceleration and speed.

Not only is the Emflux One an intelligent bike with a 7-inch touch TFT display with GPS navigation, real-time vehicle diagnostics, auto updates, a mobile application and bike-to-bike connectivity, it is also able to charge to an 80% in about half an hour (with the right kit).

The more conventional elements include a steel trellis frame, single sided swingarm and ABS-equipped Brembo brakes. All this is expected to go on sale in 2019 for a list price, in India, of just under £7000. A more expensive version, at around £12,000, will get carbon bodywork, Ohlins suspension and forged alloy wheels.

Production is planned to start next year, but will initially be limited. Emflux plans to sell 199 of the bikes in the Indian market, with an additional 300 earmarked for international sales.

Emflux was founded in 2016 by technology enthusiasts Varun Mittal, Ankit Khatry and Vinay Raj Somashekar. They believe “in the potential electric technology to completely change the landscape of transportation & mobility”.
