“I will be racing next year, I can say that. I can’t say any more but I’ll definitely be racing,” French professional motorcycle racer Sylvain Guintoli, 35, has confirming that he will indeed race in 2018 although which series he will compete in, he did not specify.

We do know, though, that he was being pursued by the Pucceti Kawasaki team to join them in the World Superbike next year. Unfortunately, this does not seem to be happening anytime soon as the Kawasaki-squad recently confirmed that young Toprak Razgatlioglu from Turkey would be joining their team instead.

Guintoli entered the 2017 British Superbike Championship, as a stand-in for an injured Alex Rins, on a Suzuki bike whose best result was a 4th place at the opening race at Silverstone on September 10. He is currently classified on 15th position, with 79 points, and has three more rounds to go.

Some speculate that Guintoli will compete in the Endurance World Championship after a strong showing at Suzuka. But we would just have to wait and see if this is true in the coming future.

One expected continuance, however, would be his testing responsibilities with Suzuki’s MotoGP effort. The Japanese marque was decidedly impressed with his performance at the British Superbike Championship that they gave him other test outings such as the Jerez test with Davide Brivio who was “keen” to keep working with Guintoli.

Guintoli commented on his relationship with Suzuki’s MotoGP team and their facilities saying, “I had a really good relationship start with Suzuki’s MotoGP team this year, which was totally unexpected.”
